Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – A new football league will introduce five-on-five flag football to the Westman area.
The newly formed Prairie Football League will start in late May, and will have leagues for adults and high school aged kids.
Founder Baline Moroz says they want to start the league as soon as possible, since it’s taking off across the country.
"There are 2,000 kids playing the sport in Regina, and 1,600 playing it in Winnipeg," said Moroz. "It’s just a matter of time before it takes off here."
Moroz says it is a safe and fast alternative way to play the usually hard-hitting sport of football.
All games will be played at John Reilly rugby field, and each registered team will play ten games a season plus playoffs to determine champions.
An information and team registration night is scheduled for Monday from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at the Sportsplex.
The cutoff date to get your team registered is on April 23.
