Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – In a season with more losses than wins, the Brandon Bobcats women’s basketball team ended their season with a two game sweep over the Mount Royal Cougars.
The Bobcats defeated the Cougars in a close game, 76-71, a day after beating the Cougars in overtime.
It was Seniors Night at the Healthy Living Centre, but unfortunately for fifth year Lauren Anderson, she watched most of the game on the bench as she got into early foul trouble.
But she came back in the fourth and played a major role in the clutch, finishing with 11 points and 11 rebounds in the game.
Four Bobcats players ended up with double digits in the game.
With the win, the Bobcats finish the season with a 5-15 record.
Later in the night, the men’s basketball team had to play from behind, but ended up losing to the Mount Royal Cougars 99-94.
Both graduating players, Tyvon Cooper and Troy Grant had big second halves in their last game in a Bobcats uniform.
The Bobcats trailed by as much as 26 points at one point in the game, but cut it within two points numerous times in the fourth quarter.
With the loss, Brandon finished the season with a 4-16 record.
Mount Royal clinched a playoff spot with the win, and finished with a 8-12 record.
In volleyball action in Kamloops, BC, the men’s volleyball team survived a surprising result, as they beat Thompson Rivers in five sets.
Brandon moves to 18-2 on the year.
Meanwhile the women’s team was beat in three straight sets by the Wolfpack .
