Accolades continue to roll in for Brandon product Lisa Barclay.
The UBC Thunderbirds’ star is the Canada West representative for the prestigious 2014 BLG Awards for CIS female athlete of the year.
"This honour is definitely at the top of the list. All my success goes back to my teammates, they’re an incredible group of girls as well as my coach and of course my family who have supported me through everything," Barclay told CKLQ’s Tyler Crayston.
Barclay was named the nation’s top volleyball player and a first-team all-Canadian while leading the country in kills and points per set during the regular season, while guiding the T-Birds to a runner-up finish at the CIS championship.
"I think we had a great season, it didn’t end quite the way we wanted, but I feel like personally I grew a lot this season. This award is an amazing recognition," added Barclay.
The other female nominees are basketball player Justine Colley from St. Mary’s, hockey player Katia Clement-Heydra from McGill, and sprinter Khamica Bingham from York.
Hockey players Derek Hulak of the Saskatchewan Huskies and Liam Heelis from Acadia, football player Jordan Heather from Bishops and basketball player Philip Scrubb from Carleton are in the running on the men’s side.
The two winners will be unveiled on April 28th at an awards ceremony in Calgary with each receiving a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship.
"I don’t think I can put that into words. It would just be the most incredible honour," said Barclay.
