It’s been held in a hotel parking lot, and most recently on the beautiful grounds of the Riverbank Discovery Centre. It’s had everything from fried food to baked food, to ethnic food, and of course fast food. But one thing’s for certain, over the years, Brandon’s Annual Food Truck Wars event has gotten bigger and better each year, and last year even had a midway. In less than 5 years, an event that started with the idea of bringing a handful of regional food trucks onto the same location for a weekend of eating, socializing and fun, has become one of the city’s favorite events. And even though all events were canceled for the Summer of 2020, food fans crossed their greasy fingers hoping that Food Truck Wars would still be a go mid-September.
Unfortunately, that won’t be the case.
One of the founding members of FTW, Darryl Wolski, tells Starfm this year’s event will not take place, due to the incredible challenges involved with putting this even on in the current COVID environment. Last year, Food Truck Warz’s received community event designation from Brandon City Council, allowing organizers to add a beer tent. I think Darryl and Jody are aware of how much we love this festival and we would be surprised if the event isn’t back in 2021. In the meantime, here are some great memories to enjoy…..calorie-free. And in the meantime, drop us a line if you see a food truck in YOUR neighborhood. We got a bit of withdrawal going on over here.
