– The only undefeated team at the RBC Cup National Junior ‘A’ Hockey Championship are the Dauphin Kings. Brent Wold was the overtime hero as Dauphin defeated the Carleton Place Canadians 4-3 to improve their record to 2-0. – The WHL final is going the distance. The Portland Winterhawks erased a 5-2 third period deficit, to beat the Edmonton Oil Kings 6-5 in overtime behind Keegan Iverson’s game-winner. Mathew Dumba had a pair of goals for Portland, who host Edmonton in the seventh and deciding game on Monday night. Henrik Samuelsson scored two goals and an assist for the Oil Kings.
– Martin St. Louis and Carl Hagelin scored 2:51 apart in the first period, as the New York Rangers avoided elimination again with a 3-1 victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Henrik Lundqvist made 36 saves for New York, who have tied the series at three games apiece.
– Jonathan Toews had the game-winner early in the third period as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Minnesota Wild 2-1, improving to a perfect 6-0 on home-ice in the playoffs. Bryan Bickell had the other goal for Chicago while Corey Crawford made 27 saves for the Hawks, who grabbed a three games to two series lead.
– The Vincent Massey Vikings and Virden Golden Bears remain undefeated in the Prairie West High School Baseball League. Mitchell Lyall struck out five and gave up four hits for the Vikings, who downed the Major Pratt Trojans 5-1. Marshal Burgess had a double, a single and scored twice for Vincent Massey, who improved to 4-0. Meawhile, the Golden Bears are 3-0 after beating the Neepawa Tigers 5-1. Marc Fleury struck out a pair and gave up four hits over four innings while Tanner Lewis had three singles for Virden. In other action, the Killarney Raiders beat the Crocus Plainsmen 9-7 while the other nine games on the schedule were postponed.
– Hank Conger was a one man wrecking crew against the Toronto Blue Jays. He had a three-run homer and drove in five RBI as the LA Angels beat the Jays 9-3. Toronto’s record is 18-20 and sit three-and-half games back of top spot in the American League East.
– Chris Paul had 23 points as the LA Clippers came back from a 16-point deficit with nine minutes remaining to rally past the Thunder 101-99, tying the series at two games each. In other action, Paul George had 39 points as the Pacers beat the Wizards 95-92, taking a commanding three games to one lead in that series.
– The Brandon Volleyball Club Golden Bears had their title hopes dashed by Winnipeg’s 204 Gold at the Canadian Open championship in Abbotsford, B.C. The Bears were undefeated at the tournament, before falling in straight sets to their provincial rival in the quarter-finals.
– A pair of Brandon fitness fanatics competed in the CrossFit regional championship in Vancouver over the weekend with John Gillis cracking the top-10 with a seventh-place showing while Zack McMillan was 24th out of 44 competitors.
