The Dauphin Kings kept rolling on Tuesday night at the RBC Cup National Junior ‘A’ Hockey Championship.
The Kings improved to 3-0 and secured first-place in the round-robin with a 5-2 victory against the host Vernon Vipers.
Brandonite Brayden Cuthbert, Brett Hope, Tyler Garrioch, Brent Wold and Jared Morris did the goal scoring for Dauphin.
"The boys are definitely fired up," said Hope. "I’m sure there are not a lot of people here that thought the Kings would be sitting in first after three games. The boys are definitely happy."
Michael Stiliadis made 29 saves for Dauphin, while Killarney’s Jesse Bernard and Souris’ Hudson Morrison had assists for the Kings, who’ve secured a spot in Saturday’s semifinal.
Dauphin’s final round-robin game goes Thursday (4 p.m. CDT) against the Yorkton Terriers, who are coached by Medora’s Trent Cassan.
The Terriers are 0-2 and need a win on Wednesday against the Carleton Place Canadians to stay in the running at the tournament.
