A strong start for Canada’s national volleyball teams at the world qualifying tournament in Mississauga on Friday.
Rivers product Toon Van Lankvelt notched nine kills as Canada cruised past Panama in straight sets in the men’s match.
Set scores were 25-17, 25-12 and 25-18.
On the women’s side, Dauphin’s Tabi Love had 10 kills, two blocks and a pair of service aces as the Canadians swept Jamaica.
Set scores were 25-9, 25-10 and 25-9.
The tournament continues Saturday and concludes Monday with Canada looking to earn spots to the 2014 FIVB World Championship in Poland and Italy.
