Prairie Mountain Health has decided against having the same workers cover both Brandon’s Fairview Personal Care Home and Rotary Villas.
A COVID-19 outbreak at Fairview has resulted in two deaths, and has infected 28 residents and 12 staff members.
There was concern at Rotary Villas when an earlier letter stated that staff there would be seconded to work at Fairview. The worry was if workers attended Rotary Villas during the morning, and then returned to Fairview in the afternoon, there was the possibility of the virus spreading.
Prairie Mountain Health now says it has a plan in place for the next two weeks that’ll see Home Care workers assigned to work in either Rotary Villas or Fairview, not both. Any plans developed will continue to ensure Home Care staff are screened before work, educated on PPE use and have access to appropriate PPE as per provincial guidelines.
The plan that the Executive Director of Rotary Villas shared with families, had not been finalized or implemented and PMH continues explore all options that would provide Fairview Personal Care Home (PCH) with the additional staffing support needed, and at the same time, allow for minimal disruption in other services.
