Brightscape Endeavours in Brandon is closing, throwing about 200 employees out of work, and youth in its care are being moved to other homes.
The government is not renewing its contract or license with Brightscape, which has 27 youth in care at 14 homes in the Brandon area.
In an email to Q Country and Star FM, CEO Jesse Dourado says they are confident that the province has a plan for a smooth transition for their youth.
“We know we have developed an exceptional service for youth and are proud of what our staff have accomplished for all the kids that were in our care over the last 13 years,” Dourado noted.
The province made the decision after a review found significant financial issues at Brightscape.
