I don’t watch a lot of reality tv. As I’ve gotten older I’ve slipped away from wanting to watch groups of people just be awful to one another for the sake of a tv show. Yet reality tv was probably some of the most watched in Westman during the pandemic. Mostly because none of these people seem to have any kind of rules to follow during the last year and it’s almost like the pandemic doesn’t exist for people like the real housewives or the Kardashians!
Yet here we are in 2021 and finally, I can say reality tv is starting to get some of its appeals back. Oh, I’m not watching it, but I am intrigued by an idea spawning from reality tv in the United Kingdom. One of the more popular shows in the U.K., “I’m A Celebrity….Get Me Out Of Here!” is getting a theme park ride! The show is essentially Big Brother but with celebrities, so how do you make that into a theme park attraction? You make it an obstacle course called the I’m A Celebrity: Jungle Course!
The celebs have to do physical challenges to earn creature comforts and other things denied to them during the show, so why not see how others would fare doing the same kind of challenges? It’s a basic idea but you’ve got plenty of people who think they could last on these kinds of shows, so let’s put that to the test. I am a little disappointed it’s just an obstacle course and not a ride or interactive experience. For example, if you wanted the real experience of being in Real Housewives of Wherever, I’d imagine you could make that some kind of waterpark ride, and instead of water getting thrown every which way, it’s wine! Cause you know…there’s always drinking.
What other reality shows would work well as theme park rides?
