Irresponsible dog owners have made the pathway, north of Rosser Avenue East, an eyesore and a noseful – it’s become dog poop central.
It’s become so bad, complaints have landed on the desk of Riverview councillor Glen Parker and he’s asked council if the area could be monitored and the issue addressed as soon as possible. The walking path runs along Rosser Avenue East between 1st Street and 10th Street East.
Solid Waste manager Scott Haddow says “the Sanitation Section empties the walkway bins along this and other walkways on a weekly basis. Staff will be made aware of this location becoming an ongoing problem and will be asked to clean up any pet or other waste they find that is not located in the waste receptacles along the walking path.
We will also conduct regular monitoring of this location throughout the week to determine if this stretch of bins requires more frequent dumping. We would ask that any resident finding pet waste along this stretch or any other walkways to notify the Sanitation Section directly by calling 204-729-2281 or by emailing sanitation@brandon.ca.”
Dog owners could also help ease the situation by remembering to clean up after their pets.
