The price of gas at several Brandon stations is now up to $1.49.9-a-litre for regular.
The price of crude has soared to over $90 U-S a barrel and reports say North American refineries are working “full throttle to keep up with demand.”
According to GasBuddy.com, other stations in town have regular for $1.37.9 to $1.39.9 – and Waywayseecappo’s gas bar is at $1.36.9.
The national average retail fuel price was $1.51.6 per litre as of last week, which is the highest average price on record. They’ve been keeping track of gas prices since 2008.
They say the record in 2021 was set on October 28th when the national average price hit $1.47.3.
According to Natural Resources Canada, drivers in Newfoundland were paying the most for gasoline last week (Labrador City topped the list at $1.78.1 per litre), followed by drivers in BC (gas in Vancouver averaged $1.76.8 per litre.)
The lowest prices for gas were in Saskatchewan – it was selling in Prince Albert for $1.37.8 per litre. And in Alberta, the lowest price was found in Lloydminster at $1.35.3 per litre.
