Have you ever had your car stolen right from your driveway here in Brandon? Maybe you know someone here in Westman who dealt with a stolen car or truck? It sucks. It can also leave you worried that it might happen again. There are some makes and models that are more attractive to thieves.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau is out with its annual Hot Wheels list, the most stolen vehicles in the US. Is your car or truck on the list?

The Brandon Police Service reports 10 vehicles were stolen in September, 61 so far this year (down from 2019).
Manitoba Public Insurance has some suggestions on protecting yourself from auto theft:
- Never leave your vehicle unlocked, unattended and running (even if it’s just for five minutes!).
- Don’t leave keys in your vehicle.
- Always remember to lock your vehicle.
- Park your vehicle in a well-lit area.
- Avoid hanging your keys by the door – put them in a safer, out-of-sight place.
